I am an architectural and interior designer who graduated from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, with a Degree and Masters in architectural design. As a Malaysian Chinese, I am fortunate enough to get close to the cultural and artistic backgrounds of different ethnic groups. Because of this, my design inspiration is extraordinarily flexible and not limited to a single design style. For the past 20 years, I have been working on different types of architecture and interior design projects for domestic and commercial buildings based in Malaysia and the UK.
"Architecture is basically the design of interiors, the art of organizing interior space." - Phillip Johnson. Architecture and interior design are inseparable. I believe a good building must have an interior design that understands the spatial structure of the building in order to achieve a perfect design. As a designer, my responsibility is to provide professional advice to my clients, analyse the pros and cons of each project, and then tailor the design to suit their individual needs.
Before Lee Studio, I was an architectural assistant in Keppie Architects Scotland, mainly working on healthcare, educational, commercial and leisure projects. After leaving Keppie, I worked with an independent building management company who deal with small commercial and domestic design projects, housing extension and renovation. Also, I am honoured to work with the Edinburgh City Council to redesign some accommodations for the elderly with limited mobility in order to provide them with a safe and independent living environment.
